Stubblefield Genealogy Tidbits

My father takes great interest and has done a good amount of study into the genealogy of our family history. Below is a bit of information that he just passed along to me regarding our families unique and sometimes clouded history.

How the Stubblefield family is the kin of King Edward I of England:

- Edward I, King of England
- son Thomas, Earl of Norfolk and Earl Marshal of England
- daughter Margaret, Duchess of Norfolk,
- daughter Lady Elizabeth Seagraves
- son Sir Thomas Mowbray, K.G., Lord Mowray
- daughter Lady Margaret Mowbray
- daughter Lady Catherine Howard
- daughter Lady Margaret Nevill
- son Thomas Brooke, Lord Cobham
- daughter Elizabeth Brooke
- son Sir Thomas Wyatt of Allington Castle, Kent
- George Wyatt of Allington Castle and Boxley, Kent
- son Rev. Hawte Wyatt d. 31 July, 1638 at Boxley
- son Edward Wyatt of Boxley, Gloucester Co. Virginia (d. 1714)
- daughter Susanna Beverley, b. 1800, daughter of Elizabeth Stubblefield Beverley (1781-1852)
- daughter of George Stubblefield, b. 1740 d. 1791
- son of George Stubblefield b. 1698 d. 1752, Halifax Co. Virginia
An ineresting fact of linage, but not something to be particularly proud of. :)

Beaver Lake Excursion

I just recently completed a wonderful trip to Arkansas to beautiful Beaver lake with my good friend Caleb Hayden, and his entire family. This was a wonderful trip and I was honored to be invited by the Hayden family. Caleb is one of my dearest friends and it was a great joy for me to get to know his family and view him in the context of the beautiful family relationship that he has been given. Below are several photos from the fun filled trip that included moments ranging from deep theological discussion to amusing documentary home tours.

You cannot start a boat trip without gas in the boat

Me, kickin back

You cannot escape technology, even at the lake!

Despite the look on my face, I was having a blast!

Glorious!

The limo arrives to pick us up (Okay, not really, we just posed next to a limo and then left when we thought we were going to get in trouble)

Group shot

Josh gives us his 'cool' pose

Hmm, that's interesting

There is never a bad time to call your mom and say hello

Feel the wind!

Lots of hair gel is quite prevalent in the Hayden family. (Okay, not really. It was the fast moving boat.)

Caleb's socks enjoyed the boat ride as well

The beautiful waterfalls of Beaver lake

The beauty of God's creation...

Preparing for our boat ride. (Caleb's uncle surpised us by showing up at the lake house and provided us with a ride in his boat.)

Cruising along at about 55Mph

Picture time!

Pretty! Beaver lake is one of those hidden treasures in the Ozarks.

Nap Time!

On our return drive from an apparently tiring trip to the New Jersey coast, Timothy took the opportunity to procure my shoulder for a nice quiet nap. After several sway-and-bob attempts to rest his head on my shoulder, his subconscious-self decided that it was indeed safe to rest on the nice soft object next to him. I suppose I am grateful he found a place of rest and limited the risk of injury to his neck. (I truly am a good friend, am I not?) A special thanks to Cara for quickly grabbing her camera and capturing the moment.

We The People... Moo!

It is not Always May

No hay pajaros en los nidos de antano.
Spanish Proverb

The sun is bright,--the air is clear,
The darting swallows soar and sing.
And from the stately elms I hear
The bluebird prophesying Spring.

So blue you winding river flows,
It seems an outlet from the sky,
Where waiting till the west-wind blows,
The freighted clouds at anchor lie.

All things are new;--the buds, the leaves,
That gild the elm-tree's nodding crest,
And even the nest beneath the eaves;--
There are no birds in last year's nest!

All things rejoice in youth and love,
The fulness of their first delight!
And learn from the soft heavens above
The melting tenderness of night.

Maiden, that read'st this simple rhyme,
Enjoy thy youth, it will not stay;
Enjoy the fragrance of thy prime,
For oh, it is not always May!

Enjoy the Spring of Love and Youth,
To some good angel leave the rest;
For Time will teach thee soon the truth,
There are no birds in last year's nest!

The Philly Trip

For those of you that haven’t already, I recommend heading over to Tim Horn’s blog to checkout the numerous blog posts that he has made regarding the trip we just completed to Philadelphia. Tim has posted numerous photos and has provided some wonderful details from our trip. (I will be adding additional photos from the trip to my blog later today.)

An Update on the Road

Below are several photos taken from the many events that took place this past (busy) week. After completing the Vision Forum CHAP conference, I made my way from Pennsylvania over to the state of New Jersey to spend a few days with Tim Horn and his family. I will be with Tim’s family until Wednesday, and I feel honored to be visiting the Horn household. Each member of the family is truly a blessing, and I am grateful to the Lord for allowing me the unique blessing that I have been given in my friendship with such a God honoring man, (who has come from an extraordinary family) named Tim Horn.

As always, it was an honor to represent Vision Forum at the conference and proclaim truth by equipping the body of Christ with the many tools that are needed to disciple a family that desires to proclaim Jesus Christ to the world. There were many dear families that I was able to speak with at our booth and it was a great honor to hear how the Lord had worked in each of their lives and exchange testimonies of how our loving Heavenly father continually guides are steps as we apply the truth of the scripture and walk in obedience.

It was also a great blessing to make new acquaintances, which lead to new friendships, with the entire Bloom family as well as Janice Phillips. The Bloom family was representing HSLDA at the CHAP conference and extended the right hand of fellowship to the staff of Vision Forum by inviting us to join them for dinner after the first night of the conference. Our first night of fellowship was then continued with a follow-up dinner at the end of day two of the conference. Both nights were truly a blessing and filled with much laughter and encouragement. It was a great example to me of the joy that is found when you come in contact with other brothers and sisters in Christ who are fighting on the frontlines for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Important note: Tim is responsible for taking (almost) all of these photos and graciously agreed to allow me to post them on my blog. I will be adding additional photos to my blog as time allows it and as Tim allows me permission. Once again, I am blessed to have Tim as a friend.

After our return to Tim’'s Home in New Jersey last night, we took some time to relax with some good physical activity. Earlier today, I enjoyed a relaxing game of Tennis with Tim, Tim'’s Father, and Tim’'s uncle, Steve. It was young Vs. old, (Tim and I were young) and the match was a good workout for everyone involved. I won'’t mention who the winners and losers of the match were, such details are not important and should be forgotten.

Young Vs. Old. Fight!

More of Tim as we setup the booth.

Off in the distance, the beauty of central Pennsylvania.

Me, as setup is completed.

I was able to procure (quickly snatch) Kimberley Bloom's very nice digital camera and snap a few photos of our eating-party inside of Cracker Barrel. After using the camera, I found myself quite envious that I do not own one.

A closer shot of setup.

Those table games at Cracker Barrel are a lot of fun! Especially after a long day of setup.

After a wait that lasted over an hour we obtained are table at the Outback steakhouse and enjoyed a meal together. Below from left to right: Me, Katy Bloom, Janice Phillips, Kimberley Bloom, and Cara Horn. (Tim is behind the Camera.)

Our day two dinner with the HSLDA staff took place at the Cracker Barrel. Below from left to right: Me, Mrs. Horn, Mrs. Bloom, Mr. Bloom, and John Horn. (Tim’'s younger brother.)

The Conference Trail

Tomorrow I embark on my first of many Vision Forum Conferences that I will be participating in this year. My trip begins with an early flight out of Springfield, a layover in Chicago, followed by the final leg of the trip into Philadelphia. I will be working the two day conference with my good friend Tim Horn. In addition to the conference I will be staying a few extra days in the Philadelphia area with Tim’s Family.

I will be equipped with a Canon GL2, my laptop with editing software installed, and enough film to capture the more profound moments of our trip. All of these combined with the wonderful company of Tim and his entire family, and the historical sights in the beautiful city of Philadelphia, should prove for some wonderful archived memories.

If time allows, I may even do some of the ever trendy airport blogging. :)
