Wow, talk about a lot of fun! I am happy to report that I had a wonderful time at the beach surfing. I was unsure of what to expect or how much I would enjoy my time in the water but all-in-all it was a very enjoyable and possibly addicting experience.

The picnic lunch, the waves, and the sun, all resulted in a wonderful and unique experience for me. Although it took me a little bit to get use to the idea of riding around on water while standing on a board, I did manage to pickup surfing fairly quickly and was able to ride quite a few waves with little effort and a lot of control.

I was fortunate enough to use a surf board provided by Mr. Spradling and was quite pleased with how the board performed. The ten foot longboard was very well balanced from the nose to the tail and allowed me to have a lot of control, something very useful for a beginning surfer.

It was very exhilarating to see the wave coming and then feel the force of the wave pushing the surf board under you to the point where it was just barely skimming the surface of the water as it accelerated you to a high rate of speed. Then comes the fun part, you have to get your balance and pull yourself up on the board while you are still being pushed forward, barely on the surface of the water, and standup on the board in such a way that will keep your center of balance on the middle of the board. It was quite exhilarating and something I hope to be able to do again in the future.

Hopefully I will have pictures to show from the trip within the next few days.

Surfs up!

Tomorrow I go on my first ever surfing trip. I am very much looking forward to it and I should have an entire gallery of pictures to show from the trip. I've been warned of jelly fish and various other obstacles I could possibly face but I am very much looking forward to ‘catching some wave’s dude.’ :)

After getting the Phillips family off to the airport safely, and a couple of delays, I went shopping for some appropriate apparel for my trip in the morning. Leaving bright and early around 6:30 and stopping at local surf-shops on the way to the coast to checkout the conditions.

It should be a fun trip with a fun group of people from the San Antonio community.

I find it very odd that I have not had any comments on the title of my blog. Perhaps no one notices it or they are afraid to ask "What does that mean"... I've yet to have anyone ask me what the title stands for so I guess I will not comment and leave it up to the inquisitive to figure out :)

I am growing fonder of the Gods and Generals soundtrack every time I play it. Quite an impressive range of music that is very fitting of the movie and very beautiful on its own. I find the song “Going Home” partially enjoyable for it’s haunting melody and the hue of it’s lyrics. It is a great representation of the love that those fighting in the war had for their home states. (Particularly the south of course ;)

You can read the lyrics here:

Chief Justice Roy Moore spoke at the 2003 Witherspoon school of Law and Public policy last night and from what I have been told it was a very powerful speech. We need to continue to keep him in prayer as he goes through a very difficult time and refuses to budge in the face of evil. I was unable to attend Witherspoon this year but fortunately I know a few people on the 'inside track' that are keeping me informed on the events that take place behind the curtain. :)

After much consideration I have decided to launch my own daily web blog. I hope this will be a rewarding experiences and not just a way for me to vent. Hopefully I will be able to share life experiences with those around me and those that are not able to be around me.
